King Duranie

I became interested in Duran Duran in about 1982 and have followed them ever since. I love the catchy songs, exotic videos and the band members themselves. I’ve always found Duran Duran have been able to keep up and still put out great music. Their concerts are always fun

Back Roads With Simon

a Duran Duran Fan Fiction story by Jane W.

Back Roads With Simon

Janesy had never imagined that her quiet life in a small town in Ohio would lead her to a chance encounter with Simon Le Bon of Duran Duran. She was driving down a winding backcountry road on a sunny afternoon when she spotted a sleek, expensive sports car pulled over to the side. Concerned, she decided to stop and offer her assistance.

As Janesy approached the car, she couldn’t believe her eyes when the driver’s door swung open, and there stood the legendary Simon Le Bon. He looked slightly bewildered and disoriented. Janesy’s heart raced as she stammered, “Are you… Simon Le Bon?”

Simon smiled warmly, relieved to see a friendly (and beautiful) face. “On a good day, yes, I am. And I seem to be lost,” he admitted with a chuckle. “There’s no damn cell service in this damn town.”

Janesy couldn’t believe her luck. She had been a a devoted fan of Duran Duran since 1982 when she was just 13 years old. Now, here she was, face-to-face with her idol – and he was even more attractive in person. She quickly offered to help him find his way and invited him to follow her car. He eagerly accepted. They drove through the picturesque countryside, and soon found themselves in the middle of a small and charming town. Not sure where Simon needed to go from there, Janesy pulled into the parking lot of a small roadside diner. Simon followed.

“Shall we grab a bite?” he asked. “All I’ve had today is hotel pastries and a pack of gum.” Simon insisted on treating Janesy to lunch as a token of his gratitude for helping him. Over sandwiches and terrible domestic beer, they talked about their lives, passions, and dreams.

As the hours passed, Janesy realized that Simon was not just the rock star she idolized but also a genuinely kind and interesting person. Simon, on the other hand, was captivated by Janesy’s down-to-earth nature and infectious enthusiasm for life.

As the day turned into evening, they decided to continue their adventure and explore the small town together. They visited local shops, took a leisurely stroll in the park, and enjoyed cocktails at the local country western bar. Janesy was surprised that Simon knew the songs and her heart skipped a beat when he begin to sing along to “Here You Come Again” by Dolly Parton. As the sun began to set, it was clear that their connection was growing stronger. Simon reached out across the table and took her hand. “I’m so happy that I met you, Janesy-Star,” he said while he gently stroked her arm.

Simon invited Janesy to attend Duran Duran’s gig in town the next night, an offer she couldn’t refuse. She already had tickets, of course, but Simon wanted her to attend as his special, VIP guest. With a mix of excitement and nervousness, she agreed.

As they neared the concert venue, they could hear the roar of the crowd. Devon pulled up to the stage entrance, and John hopped out, his hair tousled, and a smear of lipstick stained his cheek.

The other band members were waiting backstage. Simon arched an eyebrow. “John, you’re late again. What the bloody hell happened this time?”

John couldn’t help but grin. “Sorry. I got tied up, mate.”

The following evening, Janesy attended the concert, standing just off-stage on John’s side. John’s wife, Gela, was there but Yasmin was not to be found. Janesy watched Simon perform and drank in his energy and charisma. She sang along with every song and high-fived Nile Rodgers when he joined the bad. As the music reverberated through the venue, Simon’s eyes locked onto Janesy’s, and a sly smile crossed his face. He walked towards the side of the stage, still singing, and called out to her in a playful, flirtatious tone, “Is that you, Janesy? I see you back there!” He blew her a kiss and danced off as he belted out “Girls On Film.” The audience roared with excitement, but the other band members exchanged puzzled glances, clearly surprised by Simon’s spontaneous interaction. The chemistry between Simon and Janesy was undeniable to everyone.

After the show, Simon found Janesy backstage and thanked her for coming. He promised to stay in touch and gave her his personal cell number. “Promise to call me once a week,” he said with a wink, “and I’ll have a six-pack of horrible beer waiting for our date.” With a heartfelt hug and a promise to meet again, they said their goodbyes as Simon rejoined the band, and Yasmin, for their next tour stop.

Janesy returned to her quiet Ohio life with her husband and kids, and never mentioned her amazing time with Duran Duran’s frontman.
