Welcome to our Duran Duran inspired recipes!

Inspiration: Duran Duran “Girls On Film”

When you’re walking hand and hand across the bridge at midnight, you need a snack that will take you up till you’re shooting a star. Okay, maybe that’s a smidge dramatic. So, instead, just grab a skewer filled with cherries and star-shaped honeydew melon and slather it with whipped cream. For a truly authentic experience, put on a sexy cowgirl outfit and ask your husband to wear the tiny man-pants and horse head while you eat.

Shooting A Star Cherry Skewers Ingredients:

  • Honeydew melon
  • Cherries
  • Lemon
  • Honey
  • Skewers, toothpicks or cocktail picks
  • Small star-shaped cookie cutter
  • juice and zest from 1 lemon or lime
  • Other fruit options: watermelon, strawberries, blueberries, pineapple

Extra thick whipped cream recipe

  • Water
  • Unflavored Gelatin
  • Heavy Whipping Cream
  • Powdered Sugar
  • Vanilla
  1. Add water to small saucepan. Sprinkle unflavored gelatin over the top. Allow to sit for a few minutes. Cook (do not boil) until gelatin is fully dissolved. Stir the mixture, remove from heat, and set aside to cool.
  2. In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the whisk attachment, combine the heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract and whip on medium high speed until the mixture starts to thicken and soft peaks form.
  3. Turn the mixer to low speed and slowly pour in the gelatin mixture until well combined, increasing the mixer to medium speed and continue mixing until stiff peaks form. Stiff peaks are when you pull the beaters out and the cream holds its shape indefinitely.
  4. Pipe, scoop, or plop onto your Shooting A Star Skewers between the honeydew star and cherry.

Instructions:

  1. Wash cherries and dry.
  2. Slice half of honeydew melon into 1 inch pieces.
  3. Use star cookie cutters to press into melon creating your shooting stars. Toss stars into bowl.
  4. Mix honey (to taste) and squeeze 1 fresh lemon into a small bowl. Mix well and pour over top of fruit.
  5. Stack star honeydew, whipped cream, then cherry and pierce with cocktail pick (bonus points if you use cherry lipstick picks)
