Nick Rhodes, born Nicholas James Bates on June 8, 1962, in Moseley, Birmingham, England, is best known as the co-founder and keyboardist of the iconic band Duran Duran. From a young age, Rhodes demonstrated a keen interest in music and technology, which would later become central to his role in shaping Duran Duran’s innovative sound.
In 1978, Rhodes, along with childhood friend John Taylor, founded Duran Duran, quickly establishing themselves as pioneers of the new wave and synth-pop movements of the 1980s. With Rhodes’s visionary approach to synthesizers and keyboards, Duran Duran crafted a unique sonic landscape that set them apart from their peers.
In addition to his work with Duran Duran, Rhodes has pursued various artistic endeavors, including photography and fashion design.
