Ghost-Ship Pirates Take the Stage

Ghostly figures, a towering ghoul, and a few surprise appearances (including Simon’s chandelier headpiece during “Secret Oktober”), and so much more — Duran Duran brought their A-game to Madison Square Garden on Halloween night. Throughout the two-hour spectacle, the stage was alive with creatures, ghouls, and monsters, plus showgirl dancers, and eerie videos. The band delivered a set that pulled from Danse Macabre, their recent Halloween-themed album, as well as a slew of covers and reworked classics. “Confessions in the Afterlife” and “Black Moonlight” stood alongside reimagined versions of “Nightboat” and “Love Voodoo.” Covers included Billie Eilish’s “bury a friend,” ELO’s “Evil Woman,” and Siouxsie and the Banshees’ “Spellbound.” The highlight for many fans was the surprise performance of “Missing” from the Arcadia side project.
