I became interested in Duran Duran in about 1982 and have followed them ever since. I love the catchy songs, exotic videos and the band members themselves. I’ve always found Duran Duran have been able to keep up and still put out great music. To me, they are and will always be GOAT.

A Castle Fit for a Rock Renaissance

July 3, 2025: Powderham Castle

Powderham Castle, nestled on the banks of the River Exe, is about to trade its quiet grandeur for a night of pulsating rhythms and sing-along anthems. This 600-year-old fortress, a marvel of medieval architecture, will host Powderham Presents, a brand-new music festival bringing massive star power to the heart of Devon. With its lush gardens, imposing towers, and a concert capacity of 25,000, it’s hard to imagine a more iconic setting for a most iconic band. It’s the perfect blend of timeless music and historic setting—an event tailor-made (or should we say TAYLOR-made” for the band that defined a generation.

Powderham Castle, located near Exeter in Devon, England, is a stunning Grade I listed castle with over 600 years of history. Nestled along the scenic banks of the River Exe, this architectural gem has been the seat of the Courtenay family, the Earls of Devon, since the 14th century. Its blend of historical charm and modern adaptability has made it a cherished landmark, offering a window into England's medieval past while hosting contemporary events.

The castle was built in 1391 by Sir Philip Courtenay, a member of one of Devon’s most influential noble families. Its strategic position along the River Exe made it an essential stronghold during turbulent times in English history. Over the centuries, Powderham has seen its fair share of action, from the Wars of the Roses to the English Civil War. Despite these upheavals, the castle has endured remarkably intact, undergoing periodic renovations that reflect architectural trends of different eras. It boasts a mix of medieval defensive features—like battlements and a fortified gatehouse—alongside elegant Georgian and Victorian additions, making it a fascinating patchwork of styles. Today, Powderham is still owned and managed by the family, ensuring that its rich history and cultural significance remain preserved.
