Duranies, grab your dancing shoes and prepare for a funky treat! Our favorite boys from Birmingham (and thereabouts) have just dropped a live performance video of their get-stuck-in-your-head cover of ELO’s “Evil Woman,” filmed during their sold-out Halloween concert at Madison Square Garden. If you missed the party, don’t sweat it—this new video will have you feeling like you’re front and center, as the band takes this classic tune and flips it into something fresh, funky, and full of Duran Duran swagger (complete with dancers, demons, and more).
Captured by Swedish director Jonas Åkerlund (who’s worked with everyone from Madonna to Metallica), the video nails the essence of the band’s latest album, Danse Macabre, in all its dark, disco-infused magic. What better place to capture this wickedly fun performance than the iconic Madison Square Garden? The venue was packed to the brim with Duranies, all dressed to impress and ready to dance the night away in their Halloween costumes. Trust us, you can practically feel the energy through the screen—it’s that good. (Plus, how cute is the band in their ghost-pirate get-ups?)
“Evil Woman” isn’t just a one-off live track. It’s one of three exclusive bonus tracks on the Danse Macabre De Luxe edition, along with a haunting instrumental titled “Masque of the Pink Death” and a seriously reimagined version of “New Moon on Monday,” now dubbed “New Moon (Dark Phase).” If that doesn’t have you reaching for your wallet, we don’t know what will!
So if you want to take a deeper dive into Duran Duran’s Halloween-inspired madness, Danse Macabre De Luxe is available now in all formats, including CD and vinyl. Featuring covers of classics like Billie Eilish’s “Bury a Friend” and Talking Heads’ “Psycho Killer,” along with guest appearances from Nile Rodgers and former band members Andy Taylor and Warren Cuccurullo, it’s a celebration of all things groovy, and quintessentially Duran.
Evil Woman Lyrics
You made a fool of me
But them broken dreams have got to end
Hey, woman, you got the blues
‘Cause you ain’t got no one else to use
There’s an open road that leads nowhere
So just make some miles between here and there
There’s a hole in my head where the rain comes in
You took my body and played to win
Ha, ha, woman, it’s a cryin’ shame
But you ain’t got nobody else to blame
Evil woman
Evil woman
Evil woman
Evil woman
Rolled in from another town
Hit some gold, too hard to settle down
But a fool and his money soon go separate ways
And you found a fool lyin’ in a daze
Ha, ha, woman, what you gonna do?
You destroyed all the virtues that the Lord gave you
It’s so good that you’re feelin’ pain
But you better get your face on board the very next train (train)
Evil woman
Evil woman
Evil woman (you’re an evil woman)
Evil woman
Evil woman
Evil woman
Evil woman (you’re an evil woman)
Evil woman
Evil woman, how you done me wrong
But now you’re tryin’ to wail a different song
Ha, ha, funny, how you broke me up
You made the wine, now you drink a cup
I came runnin’ every time you cried
Thought I saw love smilin’ in your eyes
Ha, ha, very nice to know
That you ain’t got no place left to go
Evil woman
Evil woman
Evil woman (you’re an evil woman)
Evil woman
Evil woman
Evil woman (you’re an evil woman)
Evil woman (such an evil woman)
Evil woman (you’re an evil woman)
Evil woman (such an evil woman)
